Belated birthday wishes

Belated Birthday wishes to you Carol. I said Happy Birthday to you on our way to Cedar Rapids on Sunday....does that count?
Thanks for the update on your family......

Does the name of Max Pasley, L C Lippert Co ring a bell. Interestingly when we got to the site of the Gospel Mission on Christmas Day it was the site of L C Lippert Co owned and run by Max Pasley. It was the appliance dealership that supplied Anderson Hardware. They always had an open house at least once a year. I am sure Bob and Buzz remember because Pasley owned the McDonalds in Sioux Falls and we would get all we could eat of burgers and fries.

Merry Christmas from SNOWY Red Wing

Thank you all for writing your holiday plans on the blog....love reading them....now, my turn.
Packed for AZ and for Christmas. Heading to Sara's around 11ish. There will not be a lot of room in the car after we get the presents in there......Will be at Sara's until the 28th or 29th. Lisa and Andy and kids will stay until the 28th and then head home. Think Andy has to work on the 29th.
It is a winter wonderland around here...(I think) Al has another saying about it.....he HATES the snow. It is difficult driving on side roads in town as the city has not had time to clean out from the other storms we have had. Al is sounding very much like Dad every time it starts to snow.
Judy, I always wanted to have penny loafers and could not have them as they were to hard on our socks. I know your favorite loafers. They were very much like Als, however, we buried his shoes in Az last winter....they went to the trash. Dennis and Al's nephew, Jack, had a moment on silence for Al's loafers at the next sing a long on our street. In case some of you don't know it.....he kept the holes in the soles filled with gorilla glue and some of the seams of the shoes were sewn with fishing line. It was time for them to go.....
In case you guys did not know this, I HATED THE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM AND SAYING A PIECE. BUT always loved coming home to see that Santa had been there. Remember the time that Dad bought Mom and coat and wrapped it in the ironing board box from the store. She was really fuming to think he bought her an ironing board......remember, all the guys they came into the store and bought their wives irons or something else for the kitchen.
Thanks Orrin for the candle duty.....do they plow the streets in the cemetry or do you have to bite the bullet and go through the snow?
Need to put last things in the car and head out.
Love to all....enjoy this holiday season and thanks for the memories!
Hugs, # 3

Greetings from Sioux Falls. It is a white Christmas. Erick arrived this afternoon and joined Kristin, Rob and myself as we traveled to Luverne to put candles on the graves. They have had significantly more snow there and after putting the candles on the folks graves I started to look for Milly and Lilly. The only sign of it was the top of the plant holder sticking out of a snowdrift. That in addition to the fact the wind was blowing and I couldn't keep the candle burning so they didn't get one this year. On Christmas day Taf,Dan, Tad & Leah will join us working at a local mission before dinner. We have a nice service at 5:00 and then Santa will come. I still remember Christmas Eve at Hardwick and having to be in the Christmas program before we could get home to the presents.

Judy, I will be pulling for the Ducks as I don't care for the Heisman winner. How we make heros out of crooks I'll never know. A friend will be the referee for that game.

A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Merry Christmas from Az

It's hard to believe we are back in Az for Christmas. It is to be 70 degrees.
In the past we have had Christmas Eve in Coeur d Alene and Christmas in Az.
We arrived in Az early Dec. We have been busy doing what?
Curtiss arrived the other day for a visit; and Steven, Amanda picked Curtiss up yesterday and headaed for Tucson. The Otten family is cleaning out Grandma Ottens house; as we know is not a fun thing to do. Steven works close to where we live so he stops by to visit and help with anything. He wants to up grade the golf cart to go faster and put on big wheels.
We had a big golf cart parade last week. Everyone decorated their golf carts and we paraded around the resort. I was suprised to see how many people came out of their units to watch and cheer the 39 golf card parade.
Today is Christmas Eve. We will go to Tims this afternoon for church and dinner. On Christmas Day Tim and Dennis are doing a prime rib and all of Debs family will be coming. We come home in the EVE as Dennis preachs at the local church on Sunday. It really suprises me how many people come south this early.
Anyway MERRy CHRISTMAS to ALL. We look forward to Jan and Als arrival and a good winter. Come visit. Dennis and Joan

This Week

Hi To All From Tracy

We are getting ready for a big weekend with every one but Mindy. She still has two months in Tieland before she get back to the USA. Cody, Colton and her mom were over and saw her over T-day for 3 weeks. Mike is going over on the 20th of Jan.

Going to meet Angie in St Peter tomorrow and get Ethan, Sam, and Loren. This is to give her one day to get some shopping done for them and set up there house. Spud is getting off at 12 on Thur and they are then coming to Tracy and staying until Sun. They will also be bring the french intern home that has been staying with them sense late Aug. She is a pratuce teacher at the kids school for the year. She goes to a different home at the end or middle of Jan. Very quite person.

Mike and boys are coming home on Christmas day. They have a family Christmas at there home on Christmas eve

The dinner menu will be turkey, ham. dressing, potatoes (mashed and sweet) Calf blend, cream corn (home froze), Lefsa, buns, and few other things. After that it is open gifts and take a nap. For evening meal we will have sandwich's and some wild rice soup. Sorry but on Christmas eve we will have the pork in butter BBQ sauce, chip and orange and cherry jello.

Tired of the snow but that is life in MN. I think it has gotten worse from the windmills on buffalo ridge.. Will work on a chrism as letter after the big day and get it out.

Hope you all are able to enjoy family and have a safe time. Judy: glad you enjoy the ice breaker. Ole went ice fishing and came home with 50 LBS of ice. Lena almost drowned tyring to cook it. O: great picture of you and the new family member

Hugs to all

PS: Got my Hardwick wildcat t-shirts the other day.

December Goings and Comings!

Hi Sibs, In-laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, etc.

I just came home after completing several errands. I located a shoe repair shop in west Eugene and they were able to save my favorite pair of penny loafers. Does anyone remember that Mom didn't like slip on shoes i.e. loafers as the motion of the shoes going up and down wore out your socks faster. I think that is why I have the passion for the real penny loafer. I hit my favorite coffee shop and picked up an apple-cinnamon bagel which is very good considering I do not care much for cinnamon. Attempted to get Lyman off the Dept. of Motor Vehicles listing...didn't succeed. Have to have his death certificate. He has been called for jury duty and the only way to have that not happen is to have him certified deceased. The courts did excuse him when I informed them that he was no longer with Lane County Residents anymore...in other words, he is no longer online! THEN to the U of O book Store and in case you do not know, the Oregon Ducks will be playing for the National Championship in early January in the Phoenix area. I have never seen so much Oregon paraphernalia in one place...I lucked out as most of it was 25% off. The young checker said it was a mad-house right before the students went home for break. I do not think I have ever been associated with a school that had a perfect 12-0 record.

Janna and Rivers have been in Belize...they return on midnight of the 22nd. Rivers parents will be with them on Xmas. They have been to two Mayan Ruins, Valley of Peace (a valley financed by a wealthy man for El Salvadorian Refuges) and done some snorkeling (her first time). She would like to bring home the monkey that hangs around their hotel. Thank goodness for custom rules. Patrick has been in India for ten days. He has been in a city near Lucknow studying the Shea Muslim people. He was able to attend an Indian wedding reception, watch the Ashira Celebration parade and meet some interesting people. Will be fun to talk with him when he returns. I always like to see all the pictures that he takes. Jayne has been with the two "little people" by herself and it has gone well. Even with Thomas getting a 24 hour flu. I plan to drive to Tacoma on the 23 and come home on the 27th. Will see Janna and Rivers sometime the next week.

Katherine is in Pre-K and hearing Bible stories. She asked their neighbor if she had ever heard of a man named Joseph and a lady named Mary. Louise said "Did they have a baby named Jesus?" We have a little news spreader among us.

Bob, I liked the Norweigan ice breaker...very clever. To each of you I send my love and wishes for a Joyous Christmas and the Happiest of New Years. I remember a xmas sermon of a few years ago when the pastor said that the wonderful thing about the cradle of Christmas was that it became the cross of Easter. God's Choicest Blessings to all.

Hi Cousins

Milt and Carol are wishing all of you a Very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. We are doing well and hope you are too. I love reading the Blog. Gert Brynes sold her house on the edge of Hardwick to the family that runs the elevator in Hardwick. Gert moved to Luverne. I would love to see the pictures taken at Wes birthday party of people from Hardwick. We go to Ron and Lisa for Christmas dinner. Danette won't be home for Christmas, but will be home to give a shower for Ashley, Stan and Dawns daughter, and again for Ashley and Ryans wedding April 29th. I plan to go to Fl., sometime before April, to use up airfair money I have comming. Milt chooses to stay home this time. We flew to Fl. in April and enjoyed walking on the beach, on the gulf. Also enjoyed seeing Danette and Genes Condo on the beach and spending time with Dakota. She was 2 Nov. 26th. Gods Blessings Milt and Carol

Jan, there is still an elevator operating in Hardwick. In fact when Karen and I went to Wes' birthday party it appeared as if they handle a lot of grain even though all needs to be transported by truck. We have a little snow, but most of the snow starts around Luverne. Not much new is SxFls. Best of luck to Uncle Al with his surgery.

Hardwick elevator

Is there still an elevator in Hardwick? We had a beautiful snow fall Friday night.....if there would have been some wind it would have been a good blizzard. Saturday morning woke up to beautiful winter wonderland. There is someone is this house that does not see anything beautiful in snow. Sounds alot like Dad in his later years. Al is having cataract surgery tomorrow morning...(Monday) Second surgery on other eye will be on the 22nd. Suppose to take about half and hour. Sure has changed since your first surgery, right Judy. I know Joan has also had this surgery....anyone else?

The Johnson who was at the table accross from Bill Clausen and myself owned the elevator. What I got from the conversation was when Cargill's lease was at its end he purchased the property from Earl Scott. Said he run the evlevator for over 30 years.

Pie

Hi All

Just got back late last night from a week trip. Went with another driver and we delivered two truck to South Plainfield NJ. We left Mon morning and delivered Wen morning. It rained all the way through PA and the next morning in NJ. What should have taken us 1 1/2 hours on Wen took us 4. The trucks also only went 55 MPH max.
I forgot to tell you that the sweet potatoes need to be cooked. I back them in the oven with a light coat of butter on the skins. Don't wrap them in foil. If using glass pie pans add more time to the baking.
Have you ordered your Hardwick Wildcat T-Shirts yet? I got one ordered for Rosie also.
Bob (TBS)
PS: O who was the Johnson that doing all the talking when you were setting with Bill C?
