SCARY

It is very interesting to realize that all of our neices and nephews children see us like we saw our aunts and uncles. Like Judy said "How did we get this old?
Jayne had a slow bath tub so I heated a couple pans of water and poured down the drain. When Gretch picked me up at the airport she said "Guess what I did, Grandma Esther would be proud of Me" Her drains were running very slow so she put HOT water down them all and plans to do it on a regular basis. #2 Joan

TACOMA

WELL last week Jayne and Pat went on a whirlwind tour for alumni. Judy said she would child sit and asked me to come over.
It went pretty good. By the time Thurs nite arrived we had bedtime rountine down. Jayne had printed out a detailed schedule for us. This was necessary as Thomas goes to Ktgn and Katherine goes to pre K. They go to the same school; but different times and days.
They have both grown up quite a bit since I'd seen them. Katherine really reminds me of Janna. Both Thomas and Katherine are very busy 4 and 6 year olds. Thomas a has to figure out most things in #'s or percents. They wanted to go to a specific MacDonald with a play land. He directed us there. Judy over cooked the corn dog. She set the mico for 9 minutes. It smoked and really pennetrated the air. It was a good time seeing Judy, Jayne, Thomas, Katherine and Pat. Joan

Follow Up to Question

Jan, I'll send invites to Kari and Buzz & Linda as well. Thanks for posting. Sorry I didn't see it sooner. It's been a stressful month with my company as my partner and employee hit the road. So I'm trying to re-build and restart. Has been going well other than the ever-present sensation of drowning. Keep me in your prayers.

Farming in Worthington MN

Got to spend a week helping Darren Bauman with the fall field work. He and his dad (Rosie's brother Loran) were combining the corn. To say this was work and dirty would not be true. The cab is very air tight and very driver frendly. After you get in the field you hit setup on the GPS, hit a button to save current location drive 200 to 300 FT. Hit another button to save that location, hit run, and a button on the stearing wheel. You than take your hands off the wheel and set back and drink some coffee. When you get to the end you grab the wheel, lift the chisel plow, turn the tractor around, drop the plow and hit the button on the wheel. again you let the GPS stear the tractor. You just are there to make sure it has no trouble. It beep when you get near the end to let you know it is time to go back to work.
This is the GPS screen and control box. The black box is the tractor. The line is the direction you are going. As you go done the field and hit a bump and move right or left the line will move that direction and the wheel will correct the tractor. It is just unreal. The last day I was just driving semi-truck s back and forth to the field to haul back the minnesota gold to the farm. It is a very very good year for this harvest. both the corn and beans. The week befor I delivered a truck to Stella NC> Been driving just about every week at least two days and a couple of all week trips.

Beautiful weather in Red Wing........trees are at their peak. Angie and family drove to Red Wing last Sunday and climbed Barn's Bluff and then took me on a new adventure.......letterboxing.
They went on a scavenger hunt on the bluff called Memorial Park to look for a special little box hidden amongst the trees....(they had directions off the internet where to find this special little box) Anyway, after walking 50 steps down this path....stopped looked for a special fallen tree and hidden in the bottom of the tree trunk found a metal box with a Red Wing stamp and a notebook to add their names and family stamp. Each of the kids have their own notebook so they stamped in the Red Wing stamp. Really clever...guess everyone knows about this but me....but what a great family outing.
