Luverne Reunion

Don't think I wrote this to anyone. Charley Kadinger told me he remembers the day the Grandma Anderson got out on the metal roof of the Hardware store.......Isn't that crazy what one remembers from childhood. When I said my sister was at the reunion he said, Oh I recognized Joan. He was having a tough time as his wife died about 6 months ago and he had taken care of her for a number of year.....darn dementia or alziemer (can't find spell check on this) sorry!!!
Has 5 kids...lives in the tri cities in Washington State.
Every year Joan and I say we are not going to the reunion and we always seem to have a good time.

SNOW

It has been snowing here and it is very pretty; however, there is one problem, I do not like snow and all the issues here in Eugene that come with it. Travel, icy walks and roads, canceled meetings, etc. Right now the snow has stopped and I am seeing "a patch of blue sky as big as a pair of overalls." I am hoping that Mom's saying of years ago works in the northwest.

Grace Lemon was not related to Mom. Sometime during her high school years, she worked for Grandpa and Grandma Halverson. She worked for room and board. I remember watching her do her shorthand homework if I stayed at the farm. Hard worker, neat and very clean. She was a Dubbe and did have older and younger siblings. I think one of her older siblings was married to a relative of Mamie and John Hagadorn. I know she had family in the Mpls. area. Her family had lived in the back part of the hardware store...I gather they were not super neat as the place was fumigated for bed bugs before the folks moved the business and family in there. The fumigation incident is why I have always associated dirty and bed bugs with each other. Mom was very careful the first year we lived there in watching for bugs. I do not know where she met Don Lemon but as Orrin said she stayed with G and G when Don was sent overseas. He was gone for at least 2 years or more. Terry was born after Don was deployed. Terry was a very tiny baby (4 pounds) but loved G and G. He used to say he "had sada milk (sour milk) and ginger snaps with Grandpa". After Don's discharged they moved to Topeka, Kansas where Don came from originally. They had at least two other children, Judy and Carol. Carol Schaal used to keep in touch with Grace...I had heard she died from Alzheimer's disease. When Grandpa H. died, I think Grace was listed as a foster or adopted daughter. I know she was well loved and that was returned to them.

Yesterday would have been Dad's 111 birthday. Can't even imagine him like that.

If there is a reunion, I need a date and place. Also Joan and Den will be celebrating 50 yrs of marriage this coming June.

Thomas was having tubes put in his ears this a.m., but haven't heard if the snow delayed the process.

Love and Hugs,

Ck my comments on Bob's question on the Lemon Family. Correct any comments I made as to how the relationship existed with the Andersons. Also Joan, I always wondered what happened to Charlie Kadinger. I think he had a brother in Judy's class. He joined the Navy right before graduation and I remember his being awarded his diploma at graduation and his dad sending Charlie up to get the diploma. It was the farm immediately East of the grade school. If Erickson's lived there at one time it would have been before Kadigers lived there. The Doppenberg brothers lived there after the Kadigers moved then Jake Burness. His daughter was killed in a car accident the same time as Dad died.

Winter Reunion

Jan and I went to the reunion. There were only 45 there; however we enjoyed it. I only had a couple classmates and Jan had a couple; but at the end I saw this young man who had Orrins class on his name tag so I asked him if he knew Orrin; but he was from Marshall and had married a Luverne girl. Then Marily Lammerts brother Duane was there and as we were talking to him we discovered a resident living here @ The Resort. His name was WEsley and Nancy Greve. Retired policeman now living in Hutchingson. Duane Lammerts wife was a Holder or something like that. Judy the only classmate you had was the fellow from Kenneth. If you deceide to visit Az the third Wed in Feb is good, You always find someone from your past. Oh I forgot; Charles Catenger. They lived on the farm by the grade school. He told Jan he quit school when he was a soph and join the navy. He said he got more from the navy than he game them. By the way didn't Cleo Erickson live on that farm at one time.
We had a winter storm this past weekend. Lots of wind and blowing sand then came the rain and it was cold. Tim took us out for his birthday. Can't believe these kids are getting as old as they are. Happy Winter.

Lemons

Hi All

During the summer a family from KS would stop for a visit. I think the name was Lemon made up of Mom, dad, son, and daughter. Questions:

How was mom related to them?

What ever happened to the family and do any of you still talk with them?

O Nice thought of a family reunion . Can help do some things but sure the sister have all the great Ideas.

I think I am the one that has suggested an Anderson Reunion. It may work best if it is around Carie's wedding or the Hardwick Reunion. Bob, we have had the same amount of snow, but not the high winds. Judy, have you ever given the thought to as much as we hurt for our children when they face tough events in their lives, how did our parents handle six of us. I think we were very fortunate to grow up with our parents. I have always thought to accentuate the positive characteristics that they had. Enough on reflection.

GOING TO SPOKANE

Dean Jackson, brother in law, in Spokane had a stroke about ten days ago. He died on Wednesday a.m. in his sleep. There is a memorial service on Saturday and I am making a quick trip to Spokane...going on Friday afternoon and coming back to Eugene on Sunday. I would stay longer, but some people in that part of the country are basking in sunny Arizona. I also have a busy week scheduled with a couple of medical appointments and committee meetings.

Olivia Walton, the daughter of Jennifer Jackson Walton, is going to the U of O and she and I will be on the same flights. We will be meeting her Dad in Portland and flying into Spokane together.
Dean has been very affected by dementia for the past 5 years and has been in a care center for at least 1 1/2 years. He was a great brother in law and loveable uncle. Janna when about 3 was sure Uncle Dean would buy her a pair of red shoes and a new tryke. In fact she named a little stuffed owl Uncle Dean.

I need to get ready as I am getting my hair cut in 1 hour. Wish you could send me a piece of funeral cake Bob.

Love, Judy O-

Cake

With the cold weather and not doing anything outside I made a funeral cake. I left off the powered sugar and it is still very good With the wind moving the last snowfall around and the cold there has been no school today or yesterday

Anderson Reunion

Just returned home from being with the Anderson boys in Hutch. Mike went over and spent time with Mindy. She has 10 more days over there. There has been references to a Anderson reunion this year. Where and when is this going to happen . Also who is the organizer? I have asked this question before but no one want to give an answer to the above question

Any info on the above questions would help in the planing of summer
